The General Secretary Bwana Peter .E. owiti opened a two-day workshop at Cotu Kenya Solidarity Building this was on 28- 29 July 2018, Union representatives from CUEA, Marist International University College, African International University, Daystar, Nazarene, KCA University, KAG University and Apostle of Jesus Technical Institute attended.
General Secretary Peter E Owiti said that the private employees are yet to realize the value of workers’ representation by the trade union. He accused the universities of threatening workers who join unions of sacking, early retirement or non-renewal of contracts. He called upon employers to take time and understand the salient value of a union in the institutions.
Murdock Ass Industrial relations and also a youth leader in charge of ICT both at the union and at Cotu encouraged the workers to be bold in times of injustice. Workers should read and understand the labour laws 2017 in order to face their employers boldly.
